My Prayer For "My Next Thirty Years"

Heavenly Father, teach me to number my days that I may gain a Heart
of Wisdom and fulfill your purpose for my life today.

Sunday, July 13, 2014

Good morning.  It is a quiet morning around here.  No grand kids, and no grand dogs - just Doris and I and Honey.  And even Honey is a little bit lonely!  But it is a beautiful morning and we are able to enjoy it with out any demands on our time or attention.  I do miss the little boys though!

Day 1526 - Living "My Next Thirty Years" one day at a time.  Today, I will remember that we are more alike than we are different.  It is often the differences in others that make up for the deficiencies in myself!

Today is Church.  First Sunday of the new fiscal/administrative year.  There has been so many changes this past year that you would not recognize it as the same church, and it is not!  We all need to read "My Utmost for His Highest" for July 13!

Yesterday was a good day.  Had to work but had a good day at work.  When I got home I thought about all the work I had to to - just thought about it, did not do it!

Tomorrow is Monday, I am sure it will be a good day.  I will try to get back into my gym routine - I need to lose12 pounds while building some muscle mass - I want to look good in the casket!

GUIDELINES & GUARDRAILS

Psalm 62:11 - God has spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongs unto God.  Also unto You, O Lord, belongs mercy:  for You render to every man according to his work.

Proverbs 13:10 - Only by pride comes contention:  but with the well advised is wisdom.

My Notes on "THE SUNDAY SERMON"

One the interesting things about keeping a daily journal (blog) is that I am able to look back a year, or more, and see what I was doing and thinking.  I did that this morning.  I read both 'this date, last year' and 'this day last year' and was impressed by how smart and wise I am.  Not really - it is just that I am illumined, instructed, and inspired by the wisdom and experience of those whom I read and hear.  Not much of what I say or write is original thought, I take no credit for it, nor do I know to whom to give credit.  I only know what I have learned, and I can only restate, rephrase, paraphrase, and re-apply that which I have learned from those who are so much smarter and wiser than I.

FAITH (GIVING) THAT WORKS
"An Exposition of the Epistle of James"
(II Corinthians 9:6-15)

I know, I know - it is not James - but Pastor Phillip took the opportunity (The first week of the new fiscal/administrative year) to preach a message on giving.  And, yes, we are talking about money!  We will no doubt talk about the other aspects of giving as we continue our study in James.

One Seed, Three Harvests

   I.  Sow (money) purposely - Harvest Godly love, v7
       A.  Our purpose - to show our love
       B.  God's purpose - to share his love

You can give without loving,
but you cannot love without giving!

II.  Sow (money) gracefully - Harvest God's sufficiency, vs8,9
       A. Without pretense - it is already His!
       B. Without provision - it is dispersed by Him!

We must never be apologetic, apathetic,
 or arrogant in our giving!

III.  Sow (money) liberally - Harvest God's bounty, vs10,11
       A.  Pressed down, shaken together, running over!
             (Lk. 6:38)
B   As the Lord has prospered.
             (I Cor. 16:2)

"We get to give, but never give to get!"

The elimination of needs,
never the accumulation of that which is not needed
must always be our goal
as fully devoted followers of Jesus.

Saved by Grace . . . Living by Faith,
Mike
