The Church at Dugay
Good morning.  Slept later this morning, but was up about midnight with acid reflux - guess I should not have eaten that piece of pecan pie before I went to bed?  Chores and more done, getting ready for church.  It is a beautiful morning - more sun this morning, though I did hear a brief shower before I got up.  Mostly sunny and in the low 80s today.

Day 1659 - Living "My Next Thirty Years" one day at a time.  Today, I will remember that managing is not always the same as serving.  Managing put me in charge, serving put others in charge.  We sometimes serve when we manage well, but be always manage well when we serve.

Today is Church - ushering again.  Anxious to hear how Pastor Phillip finishes up James.  Though I think that it may still take him another week, or two!  I wonder where he will go next?  It would be a great time, in my mind, to start a series on "The Life of Christ - From Crown to Crown, by Way of the Cradle, the Cross, and the Cave!"

Yesterday was a good day - but maybe should have worked.  I did not get much of my 'plan' accomplished.  I did help Doris clean the living room.  It was cloudy, breezy and threatened rained all day.

Tomorrow is back to work.  Off Thanksgiving day, but have to work Friday - all the full time people get both days off with pay.  I get to work so they can get paid not to work!  Bah, Humbug!

Boys will be here Tuesday evening!  Yoo Hoo!

GUIDELINES & GUARDRAILS

Psalm 111:2,3 - The works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them.  His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever.

Proverbs 23:9 - Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the wisdom of your words.

Bible Pathways (reading thru the Bible once more in 1 - 4) - Romans 14 - 16

My Notes on "THE SUNDAY SERMON"

It was really difficult to follow Pastor's message this morning.  I came away trying to figure what it was he wanted us to learn, to remember, to do!  I got the idea that he finished the message from last week and then preached today's message.  Anyway, I made these notes:

FAITH THAT WORKS
"An Exposition of the Epistle of James"
(James 5:7-11, Part 2)

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses (Hebrews 11), let us lay aside every weight. and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race set before us.

Faith is the power of Patience; Endurance is its product of Patience.

That great cloud of witnesses are a present help and come to us from:

The Scriptures
Church History
Our National History
Our Personal History
Our Present Experience

Job is the great example pointed out by the Scriptures.  He had a Healthy Soul, a Happy Family Huge Wealth, and an Honorable Reputation - and he lost it all.  He was human, just like us - he complained, cried, cursed, and condemned!  But he never ceased to Trust God!  When God see us crying, He does not say "Stop crying, " but He Says, Trust Me!"

For consider Him
who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself,
 lest you become weary
 and discouraged in your souls.
(Hebrews 12:3)

Saved by Grace. . . Living by Faith,
Mike
