PEARL HARBOR DAY - LEST WE FORGET!
Good morning. It is Sunday, and a beautiful morning it! Up early, for no reason, just habit. Enjoying a 'nothing to do' morning. Doing anyway.
Day 1672 - Living "My Next Thirty Years" one day at a time. Today, I will remember that history is better remembered than repeated. May I learn from it and leave it behind!
Today is Church, first Sunday of December - I do not have to usher. I was there for ever service in November, obeyed all the rules, followed all the guideline - and nobody noticed and nothing changed! I do not understand why we have three doormen, three greeters, four ushers, and still have a dozen people just standing around in the back waiting for the service to begin.
Yesterday was a good day - worked, all day. Got home about 4:30 - tired. Did not Do anything else. Went to bed early and read some in "The Trouble with Jesus" by Joe Stowell, and them some in "Hudson Taylor's Spiritual Secrets. Am also reading "Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ" by Piper.
Tomorrow begins another busy week - we are down to the wire on getting the Cooleys moved. I will work some this week in the evenings but will do most of it Friday - I have the day off. Then Saturday morning we will do the actual move - John Nelson and some others from the Church are supposed to help.
GUIDELINES & GUARDRAILS
Psalm 32:7,10 - You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with the songs of deliverance. Man sorrow shall be to the wicked; but He who trusts
in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.
Proverbs 7:7-9 - And saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, a young man devoid of understanding, passing along the street near her corner; and he took the path to her house in the twilight, in the evening , in the black and dark night.
Bible Pathways (reading thru the Bible once more in 1 -4) - I Thessalonians 1 - 5
My Notes on "THE SUNDAY SERMON"
Pastor Phillip's next to last message from James. And it was his longest - 1hour and 6 minutes. But who is counting?

FAITH THAT WORKS
"An Exposition of the Epistle of James"
(James 5:13-18)
It Is All About Prayer and Faith!
In times of suffering or singing, it does not matter - Pray and Praise. There is nothing more, nothing better, nothing else!
Four Questions about Prayer
I. What is the point? v13
Prayer IS the point - it is not getting something, but getting
someone - God IS the point!
II. When to pray? v14
We are to be praying or praising - all the time. When we are
not, we are sick.
III. Who is to pray? v14,15
Those who are healthy and want to be healthy.
IV. Why Pray v15,16
It is effective - it works! It restores, It heals, and It
accomplishes much.
An Example:
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. Then he prayed again, and the sky poured rain and the earth produced its fruit.
( James 5:17,18 )
Saved by Grace . . . Living by Faith,
Mike
