New Year's Day, 2015

I made it thru another year - not sure if I experienced a net gain or loss yet - still counting my blessing!

Good morning, and a happy new year.  Started the new year by reading my first blog entry for last year - not much has changed, I am up a little earlier and it is a little wetter than last year.  I am still 'reasonably' healthy, and 'reasonably' happy.  Last year we were watching the boys 4 & 5 days a week - I miss that.  And last year my little car was running  - I miss that.  And last year I seemed to have a little more hope - I miss that.

Day 1697 - Living "MNTY" one day at a time.  Today, I will remember That faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  God made everything out of nothing!

Today is MMM and then my annual new year's day trip to the beach - just making sure it is still there!  Later I have to go fix a leak in one of the bathrooms at the Cooley's townhouse - it is always something.  I thought we were done but it will take another day to finish up, maybe more.  Then some work around the house and yard if the weather dries up.  May watch some of the parade too.

Yesterday was a good day.  Doris talked to Jean and then we went to work at the townhouse for about 2 hours - got 'most' of it done - discovered the bathroom leak that I will fix today.  Then to  Walmart for Doris' cokes and water.  Could not find the part I needed to fix the bathroom leak so we stopped at Lowe's and picked up some potting soil and plant food while we were there.  Doris called Donnie - his birthday - and talked to him.  His back surgery is the 7th - he seems to be upbeat about it.

Tomorrow is back to work - for a day.  Off Saturday!

MY RUDDER & ANCHOR

(This section is under construction.  Stay tuned for some good stuff.)

Psalm 1:1,2 - Blessed (Happy) is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the paths of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.

Proverbs 1:32,33 - For the turning away of the simple will slay them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure without fear of evil.

Bringing the Word Alive in 1 - 5 -   Genesis 1 - 3 (It all began in the beginning!  Creation, Sin, and Death.  But it is just the beginning, not the end.  The curse, the covering and the covenant followed.)

From "Knowing God" by J. I. Packer:  Meditating on the Truth - it is an activity of holy thought, consciously preformed in the presence of God, under the eye of God, by the help of God, as a means of communion with God.

MMM - just some thoughts:  (1) Congratulations. David, on 6 years.  Thanks for your inspiration and encouragement.  (2) Humility job - so get humble!  (3) I open Monday - don't forget!  (4) I will leave "all these things' buried, and go forward!

Saved by Grace . . . Living by Faith,
Mike

The created universe is all about glory.  The deepest longing of the human heart and the deepest meaning of heaven and earth are summed up in this:  the Glory of God!  The universe was made to show it, and we were made to see and to savor it.  Nothing less will do.  Which is why the world is as disordered and as dysfunctional as it is.  We have exchanged the glory of God for other things (Romans 1:23). - John Piper in "Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ"
